Thayer Valve Operation

Open Position

Sound follows a smooth, undistorted path through the valve. It encounters no violation in path shape and imparts no acoustic penalty.

Operated Position

The primary passage is identical in both open and operated positions. The result is clean performance, absolutely balanced in both modes.

This is a sound path selector that will deliver the sound wave - your work of art - with finesse, fidelity, and efficiency.

Traditional Rotary Valve Operation

Open Position

Sound waves encounter sharp angles and severe changes of direction producing complex turbulence and distortion.

Operated Position

The result is a weakened and stuffy note, loss of energy in the fundamental wave, increased resistance, and a change in tone color - loss of clarity.
